TWENTY-FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT
of the
Domestic and Indian Mission Board
Marion, Alabama: April 1869; pamphlet with 8 pages, sewn with self covers and caption title as issued.
The Southern Baptist Missionary group trying to help Native Americans (mostly to "convert" them religion-wise, I suspect) had its office in Marion Alabama at this time. Marion was also home to a couple of Baptist Colleges at then: Judson for women and Howard College for men. (Judson College is still there).
Tells what the board had done for Native Americans (as well as 2 paragraphs devoted to work with German Immigrants [the text notes that there were 35,000 German Catholics in Baltimore as well as 3000 German "infidels" in that city!] plus 3 - only 3 -
lines
of text devoted to work among "the Colored People.") during the previous year. The report also recounts the boards finances for the previous year.
As of 7 Aug. 2021 I could find no other listing for this pamphlet @ebay, either current or completed listings
old but extremely well (and discreetly) done strengthening of spine done with archival rice paper else near fine. Faintly penciled note in upper rh corner of caption title page done by antiquarian bookseller from whom I bought this years ago for my Alabama imprint collection. You may easily erase if you wish.
