    Description

    CAMP TONKAWA, GARRISON TX - Vintage piece of RIDGE POLE from canvas wall tent.
    Camp Tonkawa was a BSA camp near Garrison, Texas.  It existed from 1939 through 1964 and was operated by East Texas Area Council.
    Mr. Jesse Case was camp ranger for the entire time the camp was in operation.
    On one side the shipping address is stenciled:
    CAMP TONKAWA, GARRISON, TEXAS
    C/O MR. JESSE CASE
    CAMP RANGER
    On the other side the tent size is stenciled:
    9 - 4   X   11 - 8
    This piece is 28.5" x 2.5" x 1.5", was cut from the original ridge pole which was probably 11'- 8" in length.  It is composed of a dense heavy wood.
    It has a hole near one end that would fit over a metal spike in the top of one of two upright poles.
    This is a unique and unusual item.  Here is an opportunity to own a one of a kind relic from the early history of Scouting.
