Description
Rare, vintage, 1974 flamenco guitar hand-made by the famous Spanish guitar luthierManuel Contreras.
Manuel Contreras
gained the attention of
José Ramírez III
, who then invited Contreras to apprentice in his workshop in 1959. Within three years he had developed his craft sufficiently to set up as an independent guitar maker in Madrid. In 1962 Contreras set up on his own shop at number 80 Calle Mayor, (see photo of signed label) which to this day has remained the location of the famous shop.
Manuel Contreras passed away in 1994.
This instrument is in excellent condition with very few minor blemishes. One blemish is seen in the the photo of the bridge where the strings attach . And a second blemish is on the side and was professionally repaired

The neck is straight and frets are in great playing condition, the finish is like new. This guitar has the traditional head stock with wooden peg tuning keys and, as is typical of a great flamenco guitar, is extremely light weight.
