    Description

This exquisite signed requinto (alto) guitar was made by the legendary Spanish luthier Ignacio M. Rozas. Rozas was one of the lead luthiers at the Madrid shop of Jose Ramirez during the 1960s.
When Jose Ramirez needed to add luthiers to meet demand, his foreman, Paulino Bernabe recruited Ignacio Rozas. Rozas worked in the Ramirez shop for ten years and then left with Manuel Contreras, another Ramirez luthier, and worked with him for seventeen years. In 1987, Rozas opened his own shop and eventually retired in 2012.
This guitar features a 530mm scale and 50mm nut. The action is set to 4mm at 12th fret low A with plenty of room on the saddle for adjustment. I just installed new D'Addario E194 Requinto strings and the sound is clear and responsive to the touch. Cosmetically I could only find a barely perceptible - but only at a certain angle - rice-sized shallow indent on the lower-left bout of the sound board and what appears to be dried tape residue or light abrasions on the upper back (picture furnished). Other than that the guitar is structurally sound and free from defects.
The guitar comes with a special-made foam case with backpack straps and a pouch for sheet music, etc..
