Really nice gem book, with all kinds of "nostalgic" photo's. Many gem photo's from this book have become icons of their time period. I think this book is certainly in the top five for most read books on gemstones during the 70's and 80's. this is for good reason, as Paul Desautels, ex curator of the Smithsonian Gem and Mineral collection, knows his subject, and has created a book that feels remarkably timeless. I have not found this book to feel substantially outdated when reading in 2020. Real classic...
