    Description

SCARCE ITEM!!   MOST OF THESE HAVE BEEN GOBBLED UP BY MINING COMPANIES!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 1646,
Geologic Characteristics of Sediment- and Volcanic-Hosted Disseminated Gold Deposits - Search for an Occurrence Model
. Published during the emergence of Carlin deposits and the recognition of the Carlin Trend in 1986, this 150-page book is a classic must-have report for any geologist in the gold industry. Consisting of several articles describing various deposits plus a summary discussion, this is just about the best starting place for anyone wanting to learn more about these fascinating gold deposits.
Although the deposit models for Carlin and Epithermal gold occurrences have since diverged significantly, at the time they were thought to be related. This book was an attempt to find the common threads, of which there are several, that bound the two types together. Within this book are descriptions of deposits of each type that should serve as a starting point for understanding both types. A very interesting book and a classic of sorts. These have largely vanished from the book market due to being gobbled up by mining and exploration companies and their geologists. Get this one while you can!
This comes with a set of separate pages meant to replace certain pages in the book, apparently due to some errors. I wasn't able to spot the differences, but at least the correction pages are still with it.
This is the large format style of USGS Bulletin, measuring 8.5 x 11 inches.
