    Description

GREAT WORK ON ARIZONA GEOLOGY!!   MANY MANY MINES!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 416,
Geology and Ore Deposits of the Dragoon Quadrangle, Cochise County, Arizona
. Published in 1964, there aren't many of these around anymore. This publication consists of the
    196-page
book and all thirteen of the pocket maps and diagrams. One is a large full color geology map. Another has color cross sections. Yet another is a full color map as well. A fourth is two color - red and black.
This volume discusses the complex geology and ore deposits of this rich area. The huge map is a 15-minute quadrangle map covering a large area, with many formations. It is done at twice the scale of usual 15 minute quads, so the level of detail is greater than usual. The geology is all described at length in the book, along with tons of information on the mining in the area.
There are numerous types of ore deposits in the area. Some are for zinc and copper, others for silver and lead, others for tungsten. It is a fantastic area for minerals! Many mines are described and discussed, and many are shown on the map. Numerous have underground workings shown on some of the maps. Check the photo of the Table of Contents listing the maps. Over twenty mines, prospects, and areas are discussed in the text.
This is a rare publication on an interesting area with historical mining, and it is in good condition given its size and age. All in all it’s a very cool publication that would be a help to any mineral collector or an asset to anyone interested in the history of this area.
Here is a great opportunity to own an old interesting publication in a reasonably well-preserved example. Please be sure to read the condition notes.
