    Description

    ONLY ONE AVAILABLE!! INTERESTING REPORT!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 516-D,
Geologic Interpretation of Gravity and Aeromagntic Maps of Tintic Valley and Adjacent Areas, Tooele and Juab Counties, Utah.
Published in 1967, this is a scarce and interesting work. This 10-page report coms with the original large map sheet. The map sheet contains two maps plus a geologic cross section.
Gravity and aeromagnetics are two of the main geophysical survey types used to tease out information about the subsurface. Gravity can show thickness of cover and locations of major faults and faulted blocks. Aeromagnetics can reveal things about rock types. Together with mapping of rock exposures, they can give  pretty good idea of the geology of the subsurface. Both come into play in this interesting study. Quite handy for prospecting large deposits like porphyry copper deposits like Bingham Canyon, which isn't too far to the north. The Tintic area has numerous historic deposits of various metals including copper and gold, so naturally was of interest in this area. A cool report on some hidden geology in an interesting mining camp.
