Description
SCARCE OLD REPORT!!This is USGS Bulletin 1474,
Jasperoids of the Pando Area, Eagle County Colorado
. Published in 1980, this 36-page report details the occurrence and significance of large jasperoid bodies that
replace
limestones in the large area. Jasperoid forms when silica rich solutions
dissolve
and
replace
limestone. Such jasperoids are often associated with large ore bodies, but in this are only small
prospects
and mines are noted. This study
sought
to understand these
occurrences and relate them, if possible to hidden ore bodies, or just simply explain them. It's filled with interesting information as well as some maps within the pages of the book. Various ages and types of jasperoids are distinguished and described, and the relations to structures and host rocks are discussed. Plenty of geochemical data supports the study.
This study was conducted when geochemical methods improved enough to start using them to prospect hidden deposits, and was a great contribution to the way minerals exploration is conducted even to this day. It makes for very informative reading.
