Description
LAST ONE!!This is USGS Bulletin 988-F, “
Uranium-Bearing Deposits West of Clancey, Jefferson County, Montana
”. Published in 1953, this report seems to be harder to find than most. This 19-page book comes complete with
all four of the original maps
. One of the maps is a nice full color map. It covers a small area west of Clancey where 9 uranium deposits have been found. The surrounding rocks are part of the boulder batholith and consist of granites and related rocks. The uranium is in silicified breccias.
Minerals mentioned in the text include:
Pitchblende
Torbernite-zuenerite
Autunite
Uranocircite
Rutherfordine
Voglite
Uranophane
Pyrite
Galena
Several of these are colorful uranium minerals!
This is a scarce report for some reason. Perhaps fewer were printed, but I hardly ever run across this one.
